Job summary

NurturEd is hiring a Teacher's Assistant to support our Rhode Island learning centers. You will work with the Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing environment and engage children through reading, play, and structured activities.

We offer full-time or part-time roles with flexible schedules. Our centers operate 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. in Rhode Island, and benefits vary by position. We value teamwork, reliability, and clear communication in every classroom.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children is preferred but training is available.
• Must be 18 years or older and able to pass background checks.
• Must pass DCYF clearance (CPS).
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English; bilingual encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher to maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing classroom.
• Engage children in reading, play, and learning activities.
• Support curriculum implementation and ongoing assessments.
• Utilize electronic daily tracking app for attendance and updates.
• Collaborate with families and participate in quality initiatives.

Our learning centers are open between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. We have locations across Rhode Island. We have full time positions or part time positions (with flexible schedules available). Benefits vary for full time / part time positions.

Requirements

We are willing to train the right person! Our ideal candidate will have experience working with children.

We are looking for someone who has the following skills:

Education Requirements

• High school diploma (or equivalent) or higher.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Able to engage in physical exercise with children (walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting).
• Visual and hearing acuity.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Other Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older (Teen Aide positions are available for applicants 16-18 years of age).
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English, bilingual encouraged to apply.
• Must pass national criminal background/fingerprints check.
• Must pass Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS).
