Job summary

The Arc Of The St Johns is hiring an Assistant to support Early Intervention Services in Saint Augustine, FL. Under supervision, you will assist the Instructor in educating children and providing direct care in daily activities.

You will help with meals, hygiene, safety, and data recording, and participate in field trips and transportation duties as required. A high school diploma and health screenings are required; CPR/First Aid kept current and references are expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily care of children; toilet, feeding, diapering; help assemble meals and snacks.
• Support the instructor in all instructional areas and daily program operations.
• Help with field trips, transportation, and safety procedures.
• Maintain health and safety standards and record daily progress.
• Maintain clean classroom and facilities; assist with incident reporting as needed.

Position Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $16.00 Hourly

General: Under the direct supervision of the Early Intervention Service Director, the Assistant will assist the Instructor in the education of the children in all instructional areas, and also with the direct care of the children.

This position is non - exempt.

Responsible to: Early Intervention Services Director Positions

Supervised: None

Specific Duties:

• Ensures the agency safety procedures are adhered to by program participants and staff. Advises program supervisor, and the Safety Chairperson of any problems.
• Assist with toileting, feeding, diapering, and any other necessary care of the children. Assemble meals and snacks as needed.
• Assist Director with the daily program in all areas.
• Assist with field trips and outings
• Assist with emergency situations.
• Assist in maintaining health and safety standards.
• Assist in writing anecdotal records.
• Record daily progress on individual data forms as requested.
• Keep classroom and school facilities clean and neat daily.
• Serve as transportation driver as required.
• Will report to Early Intervention Instructor in absence of preschool Coordinator.
• Performs weekly maintenance checks on van.

Other Duties;

Performs in addition to those indicated specifically, such other duties and related assignments as may be required in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.

QualificationsQualifications:

• A high school education and two years experience in working with Developmentally Disabled adults or children.
• Must enjoy children and show interest in their developmental growth.
• Evidence of good health and a negative TB test.
• Good moral character, appropriate local police screening, and appropriate Abuse Registry Clearance.
• Three references.
• A valid Florida Driver's License . * Class D
• Certification in CPR and First aid; kept current
• 30 hours child care classes.
• 9 Safe, reliable transportation and proof of insurance.
