Job Description

Teach students in pre‑kindergarten (Pre K) in a district‑wide instructional program. Provide an educational atmosphere that promotes intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth in accordance with the district’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Certified by the State of Florida in the appropriate area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of child growth and development, curriculum, and educational research.
• Basic understanding of current technology and learning styles.
• Effective oral and written communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to plan, assess, and improve instructional activities.
• Ability to maintain a safe learning environment and supervise students.
• Ability to collaborate with peers, administrators, and others.

Performance Responsibilities

1. Establish short‑ and long‑range goals based on student needs and curriculum requirements.
2. Plan and prepare lessons and strategies that support the school’s improvement plan and district mission.
3. Create meaningful and engaging lessons.
4. Identify, select, and modify instructional materials to meet diverse student needs.
5. Assist in assessing curricular needs and improvement plans.
6. Maintain a positive, organized, and safe learning environment.
7. Manage time, materials, and equipment effectively.
8. Instruct and supervise volunteers and aides when assigned.
9. Maintain effective record‑keeping procedures.
10. Apply student behavior management techniques.
11. Participate in the development of IEPs, 504 plans, and other plans for exceptional students.
12. Develop assessment strategies to support continuous student development.
13. Interpret data for diagnostic and instructional planning.
14. Establish appropriate testing environments and test security.
15. Demonstrate mastery of subject matter and teaching principles.
16. Use multimedia and diverse materials to meet learning needs.
17. Employ strategies that enhance critical thinking.
18. Apply instructional modifications for special needs students.
19. Challenge students with relevant work aligned to goals.
20. Recognize and act upon signs of student distress or abuse.
21. Teach safety procedures and proper handling of materials.
