Job summary

The Tucson Unified School District is seeking Teachers to enhance student achievement through effective classroom management. Candidates must have an Arizona Secondary Certificate in History or Social Studies, and a current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Teachers will prepare lesson plans, evaluate student progress, and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.

Additionally, preferred qualifications include success in engaging diverse student populations and bilingual (Spanish) endorsement. Salary depends on the work calendar and is prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar.

Summary

A Teacher in the Tucson Unified School District advances student achievement through effective management of the learning environment, including preparing lesson plans, evaluating, and monitoring student performance and progress. Our teachers provide effective and equitable instruction to students in various planned courses. They demonstrate a solid commitment to continuous learning and appreciate diversity; collaboratively develop instructional strategies that encourage students to analyze and interpret class material. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful classroom to create an environment conducive to optimizing student strengths while simultaneously developing their natural curiosity and love of learning.

Minimum Requirements

• Arizona Secondary Certificate with History OR Social Studies Approved Area OR Arizona Subject Matter Expert Certificate 6‑12 with History OR Social Studies Approved Area
• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Requirements Prior To Start Date

Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students
• Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement

9.5 months – 207 days (212 days for new to district teachers)

Benefits
