Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required and state-issued teaching license for physical education.
  • Missouri teaching certificate for physical educator required.
  • Professional license pursuant to state law required; related credentials may be accepted.
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement motor/leisure programs for students with severe disabilities across school, community, and home learning environments.
  • Analyze students' learning styles and adapt teaching strategies to meet motor/leisure needs.
  • Follow behavioral support plans for individual students.
  • Develop and follow an instructionally time-efficient daily schedule for motor/leisure programs.
  • Follow student-specific health care procedures as trained by the school nurse.
  • Maintain confidentiality of parent, student, and staff information.
  • Follow policies and guidelines of the MSSD program.
  • Accurately complete required reports by established deadlines.
  • Maintain CPR certification at the level determined by relevant health authorities.

Salary: $52,488 - $65,016

Please note: The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and implement appropriate motor/leisure program for students with severe disabilities considering school, community and home learning environments.
  • Analyze student's learning style based upon charted progress and adapt teaching strategies and activities to meet the student's specific motor/leisure skill needs.
  • Follow behavioral support plans of individual students.
  • Develop and follow an instructionally time efficient daily schedule for implementation of the student's motor/leisure programs.
  • Follow student specific special health care procedures as trained by the school nurse.
  • Maintain confidentiality of parent, student, and staff personal identifiable information.
  • Follow policies and guidelines of the MSSD program.
  • Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
  • Maintain CPR certification at the level determined by the American Heart Association or Red Cross as Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
All You Need For Success
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Missouri teaching certificate for physical educator
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • The position requires a professional license pursuant to state law.
