The Merced County Office of Education supports Merced County’s 20 school districts in curriculum, instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. Led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education, MCOE facilitates partnerships and oversees district finances, expulsion appeals, interdistrict transfers, and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.
Under the direction of an assigned administrator, the Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) will mentor and coach intern teachers and peers on innovative instructional practices and effective teaching strategies. The TOSA will work with teachers in classroom, non-classroom, and Court School environments, consult with administrators on professional development, and serve as a liaison to promote continuous instructional improvement. Responsibilities include teaching credential program courses, providing feedback to intern teachers, participating in accreditation activities, and addressing Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE). This position is part of the certificated bargaining unit and subject to union agreement terms.

Education: BA/BS Degree
Credentials/Skills: Valid California Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with EL authorization
Knowledgeable in personal computers
Valid CA driver’s license and liability insurance (DMV printout required)
Experience: Minimum 5 years working with students
