Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments per IEPs.
• Assess students’ functional vision and learning media needs to support educational access.
• Adapt curriculum materials into accessible formats (braille, large print, tactile graphics, assistive tech).
• Teach independence skills including orientation and mobility in collaboration with specialists.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and service providers to implement accommodations.
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary discussions, offering recommendations.
• Train staff in strategies and technologies for visually impaired students.
• Maintain documentation of assessments, instructional plans, progress monitoring, and compliance reports.
• Stay current with best practices through ongoing professional development.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Hours Per Week: 7.50 Hours Per Day | 37.50 Hours Per Week

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Assess students’ functional vision, learning media, and assistive technology needs to support educational access.
• Adapt curriculum materials and classroom activities into accessible formats, including braille, large print, tactile graphics, and digital/assistive technology.
• Teach students skills for independence, including orientation and mobility (in collaboration with certified specialists), self-advocacy, and daily living skills.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special educators, parents, and related service providers to integrate accommodations and modifications into classroom instruction.
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions, providing recommendations to support students’ academic and functional goals.
• Train and support staff in effective strategies, accommodations, and technologies for students with visual impairments.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, instructional plans, progress monitoring, and compliance reports.
• Stay current with best practices in visual impairment education through ongoing professional development and research
