Job Overview

Provides Occupational Therapy services as mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (I.D.E.A.) for students with Individualized Education Programs (I.E.P.).

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation, intervention, and documentation for children ages 3-22 with special needs that may be physically, developmentally, socially, or emotionally disabling, using the integrated model of service delivery in the Least Restrictive Environment (L.R.E.).
• Provide direct treatment, monitoring, and consultation to the educational team to help students acquire educationally related functional activities.
• Travel to various schools within the district as assigned by the Office of Related Services; accept extra assignments based on caseload.
• Follow departmental procedures, attend in‑services and departmental meetings, and complete documentation requirements for the district.
• Submit documentation required by the district and perform any additional duties as requested by the Office of Related Services Administrator or the Administrator(s) of the Division of Special Education.
• Follow district policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of Ohio, issued by the OT/PT/AT Trainers Board.
• Valid certificate from the Ohio Department of Education.
• Knowledgeable in pediatric interventions and rehabilitation techniques.
• Self‑starter, independent, and dependable worker.
• Able to collaborate well on a team of therapists, teachers, parents, and outside agencies.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

Expected moving, walking, and standing consistent with a school environment, and occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds. Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, reach with hands and arms, talk and/or hear. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May be exposed to a normal school environment. Local travel may be required for training/meetings.
