Job summary

Alliance is seeking an Early Childhood Center Teacher, Float to support classrooms and reinforce lessons, aiding teachers to facilitate student learning in Providence, RI. You will help plan activities, collaborate with the ECC team, and contribute to a nurturing learning environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma and prior teaching experience in an early childhood setting, with familiarity of Rhode Island standards and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Support Teachers with day-to-day programming including instruction and activities.
• Prepare classroom spaces and materials; set up centers and activities.

• Foster family relationships and protect privacy of families and children.
• Maintain classroom safety and cleanliness per health standards.
• Participate in staff meetings and programs as needed.
• Escort students between areas and monitor behavior during recess and lunch.
• Assist with drop-off and pickup; may substitute as needed.

Job Details

Job Location: Providence , RI 02906, Position Type: Part Time, Education Level: 2 Year Degree, Salary Range: $17.00 Hourly, Travel Percentage: Negligible, Job Shift: Any, Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services, The Early Childhood Center Teacher, Float will provide support to classrooms and assist the teachers in reinforcing materials and lessons covered to facilitate student learning. They will help to plan and execute appropriate activities and work collaboratively as part of the ECC team.

Responsibilities

• Support Teachers with all responsibilities of the day-to-day programming including classroom instruction, activities, lessons, and classroom management.


• Take direction and give support in preparing the classroom including setting up centers, preparing needed materials and supplies, and carrying out activities


• Work with children, individually and in small groups to provide care, protection, and guidance


• Provide a positive and nurturing environment for children and families.


• Foster relationships with families and maintain privacy of families and children.


• Assist in the room maintenance to keep the classroom and center safe, clean, attractive, and in compliance with health and safety requirements.


• Participate in school social and family education programs and meetings, as well as larger organizational programs and trainings, as needed, including monthly staff meetings.


• Escorts students to other areas of the school such as the cafeteria, playground, gym, or other classrooms; monitors their behavior during recess and lunchtime.


• Assists with student drop-off and pickup.


• Occasionally works as a substitute teacher.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

• High School Diploma


• Prior experience teaching in an early childhood center or classroom setting


• Understanding of Rhode Island Early Learning Standards, DHS, BrightStars, and NAEYC, or willingness to acquire


• Completed pre-employment screening to include a criminal background check and TB (Tuberculosis) test clearance dated within the last 6 months


• Must have or willingness to obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout the classroom.


• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.


• Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
