Job summary

Jewish Alliance Rhode Island is seeking an Early Childhood Center Teacher, Float, to support classrooms and assist teachers in reinforcing lessons and activities. You will help plan and execute appropriate activities and work collaboratively as part of the ECC team.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily programming, preparing materials, supervising children, and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment. Occasional substitute teaching and participation in staff trainings are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Experience in an early childhood center or classroom setting.
• Knowledge of Rhode Island Early Learning Standards, DHS, BrightStars, and NAEYC, or willingness to acquire.
• Pre-employment screening including a criminal background check and TB test clearance within the last 6 months.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Support Teachers with day-to-day programming including instruction, activities, lessons, and classroom management.
• Prepare classroom materials, set up centers, and carry out activities.
• Work with children individually and in small groups to provide care and guidance.
• Foster a positive, nurturing environment for children and families.
• Assist with student drop-off and pickup; escort to other areas of the school.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and participate in trainings.
• Occasionally serve as substitute teacher.

They will help to plan and execute appropriate activities and work collaboratively as part of the ECC team.**Responsibilities:*** Support Teachers with all responsibilities of the day-to-day programming including classroom instruction, activities, lessons, and classroom management.* Take direction and give support in preparing the classroom including setting up centers, preparing needed materials and supplies, and carrying out activities* Work with children, individually and in small groups to provide care, protection, and guidance* Provide a positive and nurturing environment for children and families.* Foster relationships with families and maintain privacy of families and children.* Assist in the room maintenance to keep the classroom and center safe, clean, attractive, and in compliance with health and safety requirements.* Participate in school social and family education programs and meetings, as well as larger organizational programs and trainings, as needed, including monthly staff meetings.* Escorts students to other areas of the school such as the cafeteria, playground, gym, or other classrooms; monitors their behavior during recess and lunchtime.* Assists with student drop-off and pickup.* Occasionally works as a substitute teacher.* Performs other duties as assigned.## Qualifications**Required Skills/Abilities:*** Demonstrated experience with the Alliance’s core values and a clear commitment to them* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse communities* Working knowledge of the growth and development of young children and ability to utilize this information in the classroom* Strong written and oral communications skills* Ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects.
