Job summary

Progress South Elementary is seeking an Elementary Technology Teacher to implement the technology curriculum and collaborate with the Elementary Instructional Technology Coach to integrate technology across instruction that meets local, state, and national standards. Responsibilities

  • Use district-approved curriculum to plan for and instruct assigned classes/students.
  • Implement appropriate instructional strategies for integrating technology into instruction.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of integrating technology into the elementary curriculum.
  • Troubleshoot common technology problems when the building technician is not available per district technology procedures.
  • Assess students’ learning/instructional needs to identify the appropriate technology for instruction.
  • Use technology to increase student engagement through collaboration and communication.
  • Utilize technology to solve problems and increase critical/creative thinking.
  • Apply and model safe, legal, and ethical use of technology.
  • Collaborate as time permits with classroom teachers to plan and deliver technology-integrated lessons that support technology across the curriculum, both in the lab and in the classroom.
  • Implement and model student-centered teaching that actively engages learners in developing essential 21st-century skills.
  • Model creative and innovative uses of technology in classroom instruction.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Evaluate student progress regularly and complete progress reports and report cards as scheduled.
  • Communicate with parents and teachers/school counselors on student progress.
  • Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

Job Title: Elementary Technology Teacher

Position Type: Full-Time

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY

The Elementary Technology Teacher, in collaboration with the Elementary Instructional Technology Coach, will be responsible for implementing the elementary technology curriculum. The elementary technology teacher will also collaborate with teachers to integrate the use of technology into instruction that meets local, state, and national standards for educational technology.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  • Participate in faculty meetings, district professional development, early release meetings, and other collaborative opportunities to share technology updates, implement best practices, stay informed about school/district initiatives, and remain current with educational technology trends and innovations.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with all district stakeholders.
  • Provide for professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.
Mental Demands

Ability to maintain highly confidential information; communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and/or ability to reason and make appropriate decisions. Solve a variety of problems in many different situations and have a strong attention to detail.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and present. Close vision ability to look at a computer screen for long periods is required. This employee may occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 lbs.

Terms of Employment

Salary and work year to be according to the current salary schedule and the Professional Agreement. Days employed in excess of the established work calendar shall be payable at the employee's regular daily rate.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy of professional staff personnel.
