Job summary

Bethel School District seeks a dedicated special education teacher to provide direct, specially designed instruction for 3- to 5-year-olds with/without disabilities. You will collaborate with the ECEAP Special Education Teaching team to support SPED and inclusion in an inclusive classroom.

The role emphasizes coordination with MDTs, IEPs, and district-wide early childhood programs. A WA teaching certificate with SPED/ECE endorsements is required.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements.
• Experience adapting instruction for preschool and early elementary SPED students.
• Ability to coordinate MDTs and participate in IEP processes.

Job description

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT: Provide direct, specially designed instruction to 3 5 year old students with/without special needs. Collaborate with the ECEAP Special Education Teaching team. Will provide instruction for ECEAP/SPED/Pay To Go/Head Start students in an inclusive classroom.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid and appropriate certificate and endorsements for Washington State required.
• Endorsement required: Special Education P-3 and ECE.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully employ effective teaching methods.
• Demonstrated desire and ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications/Characteristics

• Demonstrate a knowledge in and application of Performance Learning/State Essential Learnings.
• Successful experience working with preschool or elementary special education students.
• Understanding of and success at implementing classroom behavior management programs for individual students and entire classes.
• Proven ability to work successfully with regular education and special education staff in providing instruction, coordinating programs, resources and inclusion.
• Successful experience creating and implementing curricular activities for special needs students.
• Organizational ability and positive attitude needed to successfully manage student files, participate in MDT and coordinate IEPs.
• Demonstrate a knowledge of state regulations for special education, early childhood education, behavior management, developmentally appropriate practices.
• Provides support to special education team by attending district meetings/child assessment team and inservices as a building representative.

Must provide proof of passing TB (tuberculosis) test PRIOR to hire.
