Job summary

Sanders Unified School District seeks a dedicated TEACHER to deliver instruction and manage a classroom in alignment with district goals. The role involves planning lessons that address diverse student needs and utilizing available technology to enhance learning.

You will maintain accurate records, communicate with parents, and participate in staff activities. Ten-month term with district pay scales; housing options may be available.

Qualifications

  • Must have current State Teacher Certification in the area applied for.
  • Experience working in Native American Communities.
  • Bilingual/ESL endorsed preferred.
  • Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint card.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Encourages students to set goals and maintain standards of classroom achievement and behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons and units.
  • Employs diverse instructional techniques and media including computer technology, aligned with location resources and student needs.
  • Maintains records and progress reports; communicates with parents and supervisors.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
  • Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteers and evaluates their performance.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence, including computer skills.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Goal

To support the mission of the Sanders Unified Schools, District goals, procedures, and policy in the best interest of the student by professionally carrying out assigned duties and participating in the improvement and refinement of related areas.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Encourages students to set goals and maintain standards of classroom achievement and behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media including computer and related technology, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishment of students on a regular basis, maintains documentation on computer and provides progress reports as required.
  • Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records on computer and other district forms as required.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s), and cooperatively with department heads, evaluates their job performance.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence, including computer and related skills.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
