What success looks like for this role:

• Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned.


• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and current industry standards. Show evidence of preparation in districtwide curriculum management and lesson planner as required by district policy.


• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.


• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.


• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.


• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.


• Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).


• Cooperate with other members of staff for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.


• Implement technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.


• Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.


• Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal methods and use results to plan instructional activities.


• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.


• Present a positive role model for students.


• Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.


• Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations and IEPs.


• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.


• Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.


• Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.


• Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.


• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.


• Participate in campus and district staff development programs.


• Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.


• Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

Standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, i.e. relocating stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. This is a school district teaching permit position for Noncore Academic CTE courses. Individuals teaching under this permit must obtain at least 20 hours of classroom management training and comply with any other continuing education requirements determined by the local board of trustees.

Position is based on student enrollment.
