Job summary

Union County Educational Services Commission is seeking a Teacher Assistant at the Work Readiness Academy in Westfield, NJ. This full-time paraprofessional will support students with disabilities (ages 18-21) during unpaid internships across Union County and assist in implementing instructional strategies under supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma and a valid NJ driver’s license; preferred candidates have 60+ college credits or substitute certificate/CDL.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma.
• Valid New Jersey driver's license or equivalent is required.
• Experience with high school students with disabilities preferred.
• Candidates with 60+ college credits, Substitute Teacher Certificate or CDL license receive preferential consideration.

Responsibilities

• Implement instructional strategies under supervision of the special education teacher.
• Record observations and student assessment data.
• Provide ongoing feedback and interim progress reports to staff and families.

Union County Educational Services Commission is a growing public school district in Westfield, NJ that was established to provide cost-effective and innovative educational programs and solutions for the twenty-one school districts in Union County. The Commission is currently seeking a part-time Paraprofessional at the Work Readiness Academy in Westfield, New Jersey. This experienced and dedicated individual will support students with disabilities (ages 18-21) in developing work-readiness skills while participating in unpaid internships in business throughout Union County. Responsibilities include implementing instructional strategies under the guidance and direction of the supervising special education teacher; recording observations and student assessment data; and providing ongoing feedback and interim progress reports.

• Full-Time, 10-Month Position
• Hours: 8:20 - 2:40 p.m.

Requirements:

• Valid New Jersey Motor Vehicle License & Clean Driving History

• Experience working with high school students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cognitive Impairments and/or Multiple Disabilities preferred.
• Candidates with 60+ college credits, NJDOE Substitute Teacher Certificate and/or Valid CDL License also given preferential consideration
