Job summary

REPORTS TO:

Principal and Supervising Teacher

JOB GOAL:

To assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment, so that students may learn effectively

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Reinforces skills that have been previously introduced by the teacher

2. Supervises small group activities

3. Gives individual instruction

4. Assists students in specific skill development

5. Plans regularly with the teacher

6. Reviews with students who have been absent and missed class work

7. Accompanies students to music, P.E., library, recess, lunch, field trips, etc.

8. Assists in preparing lesson plans, instructional materials, bulletin boards, and other learning activities

9. Assists substitute teachers

10. Assists in monitoring and grading tests

11. Promotes parent/community involvement in the instructional progress

12. Utilizes technology in assisting the supervising teacher and students

13. Assists in all record keeping

14. Assists in the general supervision of students in the halls, restrooms, playgrounds, or any other area of the school campus

15. Attends teacher assistant workshops

16. Performs other duties as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

187 days annually

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the evaluation procedures for classified employees of Lafayette County School District.
