Job summary

The Kindezi Schools is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support a positive, safe, and productive learning environment in alignment with the school’s mission.

You will collaborate with general and special education teachers to plan and provide small group interventions and assist with instructional materials and classroom management. Reports to Principals and contributes to student growth.

Qualifications

  • Be a United States citizen or otherwise have authorization to work in the United States
  • Able to pass Atlanta Public Schools background check
  • Obtain a GaPSC-issued clearance certificate
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Knowledge/training in restorative practices, crisis management and de-escalation strategies are strongly preferred
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills
  • 2+ years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred
  • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing maintenance of a positive, safe, and productive school environment by engaging as needed in the building
  • Collaborate with general education and/or special education teachers to plan for and provide small group or individualized academic interventions
  • Provide small group and/or individualized instruction to students
  • Administer benchmark assessments to determine student growth
  • Collect progress monitoring and SST data for assigned students
  • Provide interventions at all MTSS tiers to support student needs
  • Assist teachers with classroom organization, management and instructional strategies
  • Assist teachers with preparation of instructional materials
  • Form positive relationships and provide behavioral support to build socio-emotional skills
  • Follow daily lesson plans and scope/sequence alignment
  • Support dismissal, meals, and other school functions
  • Work with staff to support student holistic growth
  • Substitute in classrooms when lead teachers are absent
  • Maintain a respectful, safe classroom environment and report concerns
  • Provide technical assistance to students during learning
  • Supervise transitions and perform other duties as assigned
  • Demonstrate commitment to increasing student achievement and socio-emotional development

The Kindezi Teacher Assistant helps in maintaining a positive, safe, and productive learning experience by serving in all school operational and educational procedures aligned with Kindezi’s expectations and mission.

Reports to: Principals

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Kindezi Teacher Assistant supports the ongoing maintenance of a positive, safe, and productive school environment by engaging as needed in the building in the following capacities.

Academic and Social-Emotional Support

Collaborate with general education and/or special education teachers at assigned grade level(s) to plan for and provide small group or individualized academic interventions to students in accordance with interventions from the RTI/504 Coordinator and/or the supervising teacher’s lesson plans;

Provide small group and/or individualized instruction to students in accordance with the prescribed phonics program;

Administer benchmark assessments to determine student growth;

Collect progress monitoring and SST data for assigned students, under the supervision of the student’s general education teacher or the SST Support with the collection of student data for progress monitoring

Provide interventions at all tiers to support with MTSS

Assist teachers with classroom organization, management and instructional strategies.

Assist teachers with the preparation of instructional materials (student copies, boards, wall materials) as it relates to daily lesson plan

Forms positive relationships and provides behavioral support to build socio-emotional skills

Insert something about using teacher lesson plans and create lesson plans aligned to the scope and sequence

Professionalism, Communication, and Collaboration

Support and manage dismissal, meals, and other school functions that require student supervision

Work collaboratively with school staff to support student holistic growth

Form positive relationships with geniuses

Substitute in classrooms when lead teachers are absent

Following the daily academic schedule, lesson plans as set by classroom teachers

Maintaining a classroom environment that is respectful and conducive to students learning and reporting concerns to school administration

Enforcing established health and safety requirements

Providing positive behavior support to students as needed

Providing technical assistance to students while they are engaged in learning

Supervise individual student transitions throughout the building

Perform other duties as assigned by administrators

Demonstrated commitment to increasing student achievement and supporting the social-emotional needs of students

QUALIFICATIONS:

Be a United States citizen or otherwise have authorization to work in the United States

Summary

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

Compensation aligned with The Kindezi Schools’ Support salary schedule

JOB CLASSIFICATION:

Work Days: 202 days (191 work days and 11 paid holidays)
