This position serves First Grade.

THE JOB IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students

RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1. High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2. Health Certification on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made)
  • 3. Experience working with children and/or teens
  • 4. Experience in using various computers and computer programs
  • 5. Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

  • 1. Prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking
  • 2. Repetitive motions
  • 3. Physical exertion to manually move, pull, or push heavy objects or materials
  • 4. Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds unassisted
  • 5. Stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, and turning
  • 6. Frequent work in noisy, crowded, stressful environments with numerous interruptions
  • 7. Must work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

TERMS:

  • 1. At will
  • 2. Term of assignment is 9 months
  • 2. Wage and benefits determined annually by the Board of Education

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • 1. Support the district’s vision, mission, and values
  • 2. Implement all policies and statutes as determined by various governmental agencies, the Kansas State Department of Education, and the local board of education
  • 3. Assist in establishing a positive learning environment, and respond to the individual educational needs of students
  • 4. Operate all classroom equipment
  • 5. Assist with individual and small group instruction as directed by the classroom teacher
  • 6. Grade papers, assist with record keeping, and prepare instructional materials and supplies for use as directed by the classroom teacher
  • 7. Attend staff meetings as required
  • 8. Work effectively with students, teachers, parents, community agencies, and other groups
  • 9. Keep current on new information, innovative ideas and techniques
  • 10. Keep student information and records confidential
  • 11. Respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner
  • 12. Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community
  • 13. React to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, and handle other tasks as assigned
  • 14. Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the teacher, principal, or other administrative staff
