Qualifications

• Associates degree or 48 college credits required.

Responsibilities

• Administers scores and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends.
• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assists the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on students' needs.
• Operates and cares for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
• Helps students master equipment used for instruction.
• Distributes and collects workbooks, papers and other materials.
• Guides independent study, enrichment and remedial work as assigned.
• Assists with supervision during drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips.
• Keeps learning displays up to date.
• Assists with large group activities like drill work and reading aloud.
• Reads to students and participates in oral reading activities.
• Assists students in library or media center.
• Checks notebooks, corrects papers and supervises tests and makeup work.

Education

Associates degree or a minimum of 48 semester college credit hours

NC License to drive a school bus or ability to get one

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
