Job summary

Pathfinder, Inc. is seeking a dedicated classroom assistant to support teachers in implementing the individual education plan for students under supervision.

The role includes planning activities, assisting instruction, supervising students, and maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment. The position requires teamwork, participation in staff meetings, and adherence to confidentiality with families and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to pass background checks and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Assists, plans and implements the daily program under the direction of the teacher/assigned individual.
• Assist the classroom teacher with all aspects of instruction in the special education classroom.
• Assist with instruction of individual and small group lessons as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, inviting, interesting and stimulating environment.
• Assist with paperwork and maintaining records on students and program goals.
• Assist with unloading/loading students for transportation.
• Assist with behavior support during class lessons, providing positive reinforcement.
• Supervise and interact with students in all activities.
• Attend staff meetings and recommended trainings; provide documentation as required.
• Maintain professional communication with staff, students and families; uphold confidentiality.
• Participate in conferences when needed and directed by the classroom teacher.
• Assist with mealtimes, promoting appropriate socialization.

MONDAY-FRIDAY, 7:30AM - 3:30PM

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assists, plans and implements the daily program under the direction of the teacher/assigned individual. This includes planning activities in and outside the classroom for the students.
• Assist the classroom teacher with all aspects of the instruction in the special education classroom.
• Assist with instruction of individual and small group lessons as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Assist in assuring an environment that will be safe, inviting, interesting and stimulating. Be willing to make suggestions that may benefit the program and students success.
• Assist with paperwork and maintaining records kept on student and assists with program goals and data.
• Assist with unloading and loading students for transportation.
• Assist as needed during class lessons with behavior control, prompting, reinforcement, etc., giving help in a positive.
• Supervise and interact with students in all activities.
• Provides nurturing, essential learning to help students demonstrate independent skills.
• Attend staff meeting and recommended training programs. Provide documentation as required to the director in accordance to state requirements.
• Maintain appropriate communication with staff, students and families at all times, while maintaining an open, warm and professional relationship.
• Adheres to confidentiality regulations of students, parents and program when communicating with other staff members.
• Participate in conferences when needed and directed by the classroom teacher.
• Assist with mealtimes, promoting appropriate socialization skills.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Education And Experience

High school or GED

Salary: $12.66 - $13.16 per hour
