Job summary

The Fedcap Group is hiring a Teacher Assistant for a 10‑month position in our preschool program in New York. You will work in integrated and self‑contained classrooms, supporting a Special Education Teacher to create a warm, safe educational environment for our students.

You will follow OCFS regulations, implement the schoolwide PBIS initiative, and collaborate with staff, parents, education consultants, and administration.

Qualifications

• High School education or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Two (2) years practical experience working with children is preferred.
• Level I NYS Teacher Assistant Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work under supervision of classroom teacher.
• Assist in caring for the physical needs of children.
• Attend staffing, departmental in-service meetings as assigned.
• Assist in keeping classroom and program supplies ready and well maintained.
• Maintain professional ethics in the building and out, regarding the discussion of pupils and their conditions.
• Adhere to the Program and Agency policies.
• Assist individuals with toileting and personal care needs when necessary.
• Assist with behavior management of children under the supervision of the classroom teacher as outlined by Program and Agency policies.
• Interact with children at all times in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate way, while encouraging self-help.
• Assist in child observation, record keeping, and assessment.

Skills
