Job summary

Arc Broward is seeking a Preschool Teacher Assistant for the full-time Afterschool program in Alaska. The role runs Monday through Friday, 8:45 am – 3:45 pm, paying $17/hour.

You will support preschool students aged 3–5 with special needs, providing supervision, care, and instruction to help them learn, grow, play, and thrive. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience with children, preferably with developmental disabilities or behavioral

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional experience with children.
• Interest in developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision, care, and teaching to children with developmental disabilities.
• Ensures a safe, stimulating, nurturing and therapeutic learning environment.
• Assists with basic hygiene and toileting as needed.
• Engages children in fun, meaningful activities.

As a Teacher Assistant in our Afterschool program, you will be a valued member of a dedicated and talented team of people while helping preschool students with disabilities learn, grow, play, and thrive!

What are the Responsibilities of a Teacher Assistant?

• Provides direct supervision, care, and teaching to children with Developmental Disabilities


• Ensures a safe, stimulating, nurturing and therapeutic learning environment


• Provides basic care in all areas of hygiene and toileting, as needed


• Engages children in fun, meaningful activities

What are the requirements?

• You have a high school diploma or GED


• You have a minimum of 1 year of professional experience working with children (preferably children with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges)
