Job summary

RecruitFront is seeking a dedicated Teacher Aide to support elementary students. The role runs 7:40AM to 2:40PM in a 10-month position, with duties across classrooms, library, and health office as needed.

The ideal candidate will assist with remedial reading and math progress, help with grading and reports, and supervise students during study hall and transitions. A high school diploma is required, with strong classroom skills preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience assisting teachers in a classroom setting preferred.
• Ability to support students with reading, math and study skills.

Job description

We are looking for a dedicated Teacher Aides to support our Elementary students.

Hours: 7:40AM - 2:40PM, 10 Month Position

Distinguishing features of the class: These duties of this class differ from those of School Monitor due to the more complex nature of the assignments that are performed. The duties and responsibilities may vary at different grade levels. The work is performed under the general supervision of the School Principal, a member of the teaching staff, Director of Special Education or school nurse. May be assigned to assist in the library, a classroom, or the health office. Does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities (Illustrative Only)

• May work with individuals or small groups to review progress in remedial reading, mathematics comprehension, spelling and other subjects;
• May assist teachers in the correction of test papers, recording of grades, maintaining files and preparing statistical reports;
• May assist teachers with study hall, corridor, lunchroom, and other monitorial duties;
• Occasionally oversees class when Teacher is out of the room;
• Assists teachers with study hall, corridor, lunchroom, and other monitorial duties;
• Fills out, copies, types or dittos forms, reports and stencils from various rough drafts;
• Assists in routine classroom housekeeping chores;
• Organizes and participates in group games and related activities;
• Assists teachers and students in selecting supplementary materials from the library;
• May be assigned to assist students take notes, gather books, etc.;
• May correct themes, compositions, standardized and objective tests.
• May reinforce academic, social-emotional, communication and behavioral skills with assigned students
• May collect and record data about performance and behaviors of students
• May provide instructional accommodations for students which are developed by the teacher
• Support assigned students mainstreaming into general education classes
• Provide safe behavioral interventions– TCI-based
• May assist students with activities of daily living (ADL Skills) including: hygiene, toileting, dressing, and eating such as: Oral hygiene or nail, hair and skin care; preparing nourishment, feeding student orally if there are no feeding problems, care of an incontinent student, including changing diapers, assistance with bedpan and urinal, non-medical aspects of bowel and bladder training, assistance with clothing
• Assists in routine classroom housekeeping chores
• Organizes and participates in group games and related activities

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and knowledge in a particular field where any specialized duties are involved.
