Teacher Aid – Child Care Center
The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children, typically ranging from infants through preschool age. This role assists with daily classroom activities, care routines, and supervision while promoting children’s overall development and well‑being.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age‑appropriate activities
- Support a positive, engaging classroom environment that encourages learning through play
- Help prepare materials and set up activities for daily instruction
Child Care & Supervision
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, and transitions
- Assist with daily care routines including feeding, diapering, toileting, and hygiene practices
- Ensure children are always safe, properly supervised, and accounted for
Health, Safety & Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper sanitation and hygiene protocols
- Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and center policies
Behavior & Relationship Building
- Foster positive relationships with children by modeling appropriate behavior and providing emotional support
- Encourage social development through guidance, redirection, and positive reinforcement
- Build respectful and professional relationships with families
Family Communication
- Support open communication with parents and guardians by sharing daily updates and information
- Assist in addressing parent questions or concerns as directed by the Lead Teacher or administration
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff members to ensure smooth classroom operations
- Be flexible and assist in other classrooms or duties as needed
