PRIMARY PURPOSE
- To plan, develop, and implement an effective instructional program that maximizes student achievement using research findings, technology, and community resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree with appropriate state certification for subject and level assigned.

- Demonstrate strong cognitive understanding of subject matter and pedagogical skills.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Exhibit excellent public relation and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of change processes, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
- Highly effective organizational and consensus‑building skills.
- Understanding of planning and developing short‑ and long‑range instructional plans based on strategies, student needs, and curriculum.
- Awareness of various learning styles and competence in developing and delivering instruction appropriate to developmental needs.
- Understanding cultural diversity and providing instruction appropriate to diverse cultures, populations, learning styles, and backgrounds.
- Develop a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, and techniques for problem solving and critical thinking.
- Knowledge of critiquing, constructing, and utilizing multiple assessment techniques to monitor progress, modify instruction, and set goals.
- Effective communication techniques, including verbal, nonverbal, and media communication sensitive to student differences and needs.
- Basic understanding of technology impact in assigned curricular areas.
- Follow all policies and procedures of MISD.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
- No experience required beyond certification from an accredited teacher preparation program.
- Alternative qualifications acceptable if approved by administration.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Plan, organize, and provide learning experiences within assigned areas.
- Create a conducive classroom environment matching students' maturity, interests, and abilities.
- Guide learning toward district curriculum goals.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media aligned with resources and student needs.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly, provide progress reports, and communicate with parents when needed.
- Identify special student needs and seek assistance as required.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with IEPs.
- Develop a student behavior plan in line with administrative policies.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Availability to students and parents on a daily basis and by appointment.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides, volunteers, and student teachers, including written evaluations.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth meeting district requirements and personal professional goals.
- Participate in teacher evaluation process, contributing to mutual agreement on results.
- Attend campus and district meetings to promote communication and decision making.
- Attend school‑sponsored activities such as student orientations, open houses, and programs as agreed with principal and faculty.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Aides, student teachers, student groups, etc., as assigned by administration.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Communicating well and making multiple decisions regarding students’ educational, physical, and emotional well‑being while maintaining emotional control under stress.
- Standing, walking, and verbalizing for long periods.
- Lifting or moving small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
- Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
