Salary: Annual salary range is commensurate with education and years of experience. Salary ranges $39,803.04 to $52, 832.45 (Bachelor's Degree) and $41,171.55 to $55,850.55 (Master's Degree). Employees are provided paid health, dental, life and retirement benefits as well as an option to participate in the State's tax-deferred annuity program.
Positions in this family are involved in professional level work teaching standard academic or commercial subjects in a state school, hospital, facility or institution. This includes writing teaching plans, providing individual and group instruction, and participating in staff development training sessions.
This job family consists of only one level and employees are responsible for performing all functions to provide instruction to students in standard academic or commercial subjects. In this role they will provide classroom teaching, maintain order and discipline, prepare test papers, grade tests, and provide individual progress assessment. They will also participate in staff development training sessions, direct student activities and perform related administrative functions.
Education and Experience requirements consist of possession of a current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required include knowledge of principles, practices and materials used in the education of children; ability is required to instruct at a specified grade level or in a specialized field; and of the content matter in the specific field of knowledge. Ability is required to supervise and instruct pupils; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to organize and present lesson plans clearly and concisely; and to refine lesson objectives.
Some positions may require certification in a specific field of instruction.

Position is located at Oklahoma School for the Deaf (OSD) in Sulphur.
Essential Functions: Position provides a proper education for deaf and hard-of-hearing students that come to OSD from all over the state. Position is responsible for providing learning experiences by utilizing school curriculum, IEP goals and objective and other appropriate materials and activities. Duties include preparing lesson plans, reports, and keeping records of student behavior and attitude needed to provide an orderly productive environment; ascertain learning needs of students and to establish evaluation techniques for assessment of progress, as well as participate in extracurricular activities.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience working with young deaf and hard of hearing children and their families.
