Job summary

Paycom - ATS in West Virginia seeks a licensed educator to teach secondary subjects to students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning disorders (grades 6–12). The role involves planning daily lessons, assessing progress, and coordinating with parents and school staff to support each student's needs.

The teacher will create customized learning materials, monitor behavior, ensure safety, and maintain CPR/FA and CPI certifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • West Virginia Teaching Certificate for grades 6–12.
  • Driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • CPR/FA and CPI certifications must be obtained and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and prepares lessons daily to meet each student's needs.
  • Confers with parents and school staff to discuss progress.
  • Instructs students in academic and elective subjects.
  • Creates learning materials aligned to student abilities.
  • Reports grades and absences to home school each grading period.
  • Observes disruptive behavior and determines appropriate actions.
  • Motivates students and provides ongoing feedback on learning.
  • Oversee safety and direct emergency situations.
  • Intervenes or redirects students exhibiting aggression when needed.
  • May therapeutically restrain a student in imminent danger.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Job Function: Teaches secondary school subjects in grades six (6) through twelve (12) to students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning disorders.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential Functions:Plans and prepares lessons and other instructional materials daily to meet individual need of students, considering state and school requirements, physical, emotional, and educational levels of development. 2. Confers with parents, administrators, school counselors, Innerchange staff, testing specialists, social worker, and others to develop individual educational program, obtain schedules, and to discuss student progress and needs for student. 3. Instructs students in all academic and elective subjects. 4. Creates learning materials geared to each student's ability and interest. 5. Reports student grades and absences to home school at the end of each grading period. 6. Observes students for signs of disruptive behavioral such as violence, verbal outbursts, and episodes of destructiveness and determines appropriate course of action when behavior is inappropriate in accordance with Master Service Plan. 7. Works with students to increase motivation, provide consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of level of functioning, and continuous feedback to student for all learning activities. 8. Oversee safety of clients and directs emergency situations that may arise during shift. 9. May occasionally be called upon to verbally intervene or redirect clients exhibiting inappropriate or aggressive behavior. 10. May occasionally be called upon to therapeutically restrain a client imminent danger of harming himself/herself and/or others. 11. Other duties as assigned.Job Specifications:1. Education, Certification/License, and/or Experiencea. Bachelors degree from fouryear college or university.b. West Virginia Teaching Certificate in grades 6 12c. Drivers license and reliable transportation is required.d. Obtain and maintain CPR/FA and CPI certifications.2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public. Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
