Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all production and facility equipment operates efficiently and safely through effective preventive maintenance, calibration, and prompt corrective repairs. The role supports production, engineering, and operations by maintaining equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.
Education and Experience
- Technical degree in an industrial, mechanical, electrical, or related field or 3–5 years of equivalent hands‑on maintenance experience.
- Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program in a trade, craft, or occupation is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of machine functions, mechanical systems, and industrial equipment processes.
Required Skills and Technical Proficiency
- Electrical and diagnostic tools: volt meters, ohm meters, flow meters, thermometers.
- Precision measuring instruments: micrometers, dial and digital calipers.
- Machine tools: lathes, milling machines, drill presses.
- Fabrication and cutting equipment: band saws, cutoff saws, metal grinders, metal shears, metal brakes.
- Pipe bending and threading equipment.
- Welding equipment.
- Small hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance according to established schedules, including repairs requiring equipment downtime.
- Accurately complete maintenance work orders, CMMS entries (Maximo), predictive maintenance checklists, and all required documentation.
- Communicate equipment status, maintenance activities, and potential issues to coordinators, supervisors, and operators.
- Support production and engineering departments with maintenance and repair needs.
- Assist with maintenance requirement specifications for the design of new machinery and upgrades or improvements to existing equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering on assigned projects as needed.
- Coordinate and work with outside contractors for preventive maintenance and repair activities.
- Procure required parts, materials, and supplies for maintenance and project work.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety, environmental, and hazardous materials protocols.
- Work effectively in a team environment that promotes safety awareness, cooperation, and mutual respect.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Working Conditions
- Occasional heavy lifting, typically with assistance.
- Majority of work involves light lifting and manual tasks.
- Some exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, and noise in an industrial environment; exposure is generally within acceptable limits.
Compensation
Hourly rate $31.50 to $35.75, with starting pay dependent on location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
