Job summary

Scripps Research Institute in San Diego seeks a Research Assistant II to support the TB biology team, performing microbiological and molecular biology tasks, preparing reagents, and managing data under BSL2/BSL3 conditions.

The role requires a bachelor’s in a relevant field, 3–5 years of experience (master’s with 2+ years acceptable), and proficiency in data analysis tools. Visa sponsorship is not available. Compensation is $70,304 per year with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology or related field (or equivalent).
• 3–5 years of relevant experience; master’s degree with 2+ years acceptable.
• Prior BSL3 training and experience preferred.
• Experience with cell-based and/or biochemical assays (imaging, luminescence, fluorescence, absorbance).
• Proficiency in data analysis, figure generation, and data management.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological experiments, including media prep and culturing.
• Conduct molecular biology tasks: isolate DNA/RNA, PCR, qRT-PCR.
• Analyze and profile compounds against TB strains in BSL2/BSL3 settings.
• Present results in regular laboratory meetings.
