Job summary

Abacus Group in Edison, NJ seeks a Tax staff member to support U.S. federal, state, and local tax filings for high-net-worth individuals and related entities.

You will work with external advisors to prepare returns, projections, and quarterly estimates while maintaining organized work papers for audit readiness. The ideal candidate has 2–15 years of tax experience across partnerships and HNW clients, strong communication and analytical skills, and CPA preferred.

• 2–15 years of relevant tax experience.
• Mix of partnership and HNW tax experience.

• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, partnerships, LLCs, and related entities.
• Coordinate quarterly estimated tax payments and annual tax projections.
• Support tax planning initiatives related to investments, real estate holdings, private equity, operating businesses, and philanthropic entities.
• Analyze tax implications of transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, and financing activities.
• Manage information gathering and serve as primary liaison with external tax advisors and service providers.
• Review K-1s, investment statements, and partnership allocations for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor multi-state tax exposure and ensure compliance with applicable filing requirements.
• Research tax law changes and assess the impact on the family's structure and investment strategy.
• Maintain organized tax workpapers and documentation to support compliance and audit readiness.
• Assist with special projects, entity structuring, and ongoing process improvements within the family office.
