Job summary

SonicJobs is recruiting for year-round Retail Tax Experts to work on-site at retail or flagship locations across the United States. You will provide full-service, in-person tax preparation, advice, and support to customers, handling straightforward to complex returns while building local relationships.

This non-exempt, on-site role requires active licenses (EA, CPA, or attorney), a PTIN, and at least 3 years of paid tax preparation experience with 30+ returns per season using professional

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted EA, CPA, or attorney license.
• Active PTIN.
• State licenses, certificates, permits, or bonds required for the role, or ability to obtain them.
• Minimum 3 years' paid experience preparing 30+ federal and state individual 1040 returns per tax season using professional tax software.
• Familiarity with Circular 230.
• Must reside in the United States and be able to work on-site, Sunday–Saturday, for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
• Comfortable working in a front-facing retail environment and wear a company uniform.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

We're looking for licensed tax professionals to join as year-round Retail Tax Experts.

About the Role

You'll work on-site at a retail or flagship location, providing full-service, in-person tax preparation, advice, and support to customers — from straightforward returns to more complex situations. You'll also help grow the location's client base within your local community, building long-term relationships and repeat business.This is a non-exempt, on-site role based in the United States.

What You'll Do

• Provide full-service tax return preparation, tax advice, calculations, and software support, covering both simple and complex situations (personal and business income, deductions, amendments).
• Run discovery sessions and tax reviews to identify deductions, reduce tax liability, and offer forward-looking tax planning advice.
• Build relationships with customers and the local community through outreach and marketing activity to grow the client base.
• Deliver a high standard of customer service, both in person and via video.

What You Need

• An active, unrestricted EA, CPA, or attorney license (deep tax law knowledge preferred).
• An active Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN).
• Any state licenses, certificates, permits, or bonds required for the role, or the ability to obtain them.
• Minimum 3 years' paid experience preparing 30+ federal and state individual 1040 returns per tax season using professional tax software.
• Familiarity with Circular 230.
• Must reside in the United States and be able to work on-site, Sunday–Saturday, for a minimum of 20 hours per week (hours may increase during peak tax season).
• Comfortable working in a front-facing retail environment and willing to wear a company uniform.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Pay & Benefits

• Base pay (California): $32.50–$36.00/hour, plus eligibility for a cash bonus and equity rewards. Pay varies by location and experience.
