Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal, experienced Tax Professional to serve clients with diverse tax needs. You’ll conduct interviews, prepare returns, and collaborate with a team that provides advanced tax training to help you succeed.

This role requires completing continuing education, meeting IRS requirements, and delivering exceptional client service in person or via virtual tools. A bachelor’s in accounting and CPA or EA certification are preferred; strong communication and growth mindset are

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is preferred.
• CPA or Enrolled Agent certification is preferred.
• Experience completing complex returns (individual, trust, partnership).
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or tax.
• Experience conducting virtual tax interviews.
• Experience with tax planning and audit support.
• Sales and/or marketing experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tax interviews with clients face to face and through virtual tools – video, phone, chat, email.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns.
• Generate business growth, increase client retention, and offer additional products and services.
• Provide clients with IRS support; includes Circular 230 considerations and audit representation.
• Mentor and support teammates.

Your Expertise

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment2
• Experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or tax
• Experience completing individual returns
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Comfort working with virtual tools – video, phone and chat
• Ability to effectively communicate in person, via phone and in writing
• Must complete continuing education requirement and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements
• High school diploma / equivalent or higher
