Job summary

Liberty Tax Service in Centerville, GA is seeking a seasonal Tax Preparer to accurately prepare individual and small business returns and deliver exceptional customer service during tax season.

You will review financial records, ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax laws, and maintain organized client files while collaborating with office staff.

Strong knowledge of tax rules, proficiency with tax software and MS Office, and PTIN eligibility are essential to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

• Tax Preparation: Prepare individual and small business tax returns accurately and efficiently.
• Review financial records, such as income statements and documentation of expenditures, to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service by addressing client concerns and questions in a timely manner.
• Conduct client interviews to gather information about their tax situation.
• Explain tax return outcomes and provide tax planning advice.
• Compliance and Accuracy: Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations through ongoing education and training.
• Ensure all returns are prepared in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Verify the accuracy of data entered into tax software.
• Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain organized and accurate records of all client interactions and tax returns.
• Ensure all required documents are filed correctly and securely.
• Keep up to date with client files and follow up on missing information.
• Training and Development: Participate in training sessions and continuing education to maintain professional credentials.
• Stay informed about changes in tax laws and software updates.
• Work closely with other tax professionals and office staff to ensure a seamless workflow.
• Assist in mentoring and training junior staff members as needed.

Job Summary

Physical Requirements

Position requires working at a desk for periods of time. Some overtime and weekend work may be required, especially during tax season.
