Job summary

A leading tax planning firm in Michigan is seeking a Planning Specialist to analyze tax liabilities and prepare tax projections. You will work collaboratively with financial advisors to develop strategies aimed at minimizing clients' tax responsibilities. Ideal candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and have 1-year relevant experience. This role also includes representing clients before tax authorities, thereby necessitating strong communication skills and organizational abilities. The position offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance and 401K.

Qualifications

  • Experience preparing federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • Enrolled Agent or CPA license preferred.
  • Ability to obtain Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN).

Responsibilities

Planning Specialist

Our Tax Specialists provide strategies on how to plan today to minimize our clients’ taxes in the future. Our philosophy at Hantz Group is that Tax Planning is a proactive process that requires monitoring our clients’ tax situation throughout the year to deliver tax projections before preparation of their final tax return.

As a Tax Planning Specialist, you will work as part of a team with Financial Advisors to develop financial strategies and reduce individual client’s tax liability. In addition to completing tax analysis and preparing returns you’ll collaborate with the other specialists to find opportunities for your clients.

Essential Job Functions
  • Analyze Tax Liability
  • Prepare Tax Projections
  • Prepare and file Tax Returns
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and prospective clients
  • Develop and maintain client base
  • Market and sell appropriate tax plans
  • Attend meetings and continuing education sessions
  • Take a holistic approach with a team of financial professionals to service clients
  • Comply with all industry rules and regulations
  • Represent clients in front of the IRS and state revenue departments
  • All other tasks assigned
Education/Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, stringent deadlines, and multiple clients
  • Strong sense of professional and personal accountability
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1-year relevant experience preparing federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals
  • Enrolled Agent or Certified Public Accountant license preferred
  • Must possess or be able to obtain Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Strong leadership qualities, work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Experience with CCH Axcess Software preferred
