Job summary

Aprio, a Top 20 CPA and advisory firm, seeks a Tax Manager to lead a team of tax professionals in Los Angeles. You will develop tax strategies, mentor staff, and deliver consulting on mergers, tax planning, and corporate restructurings. The role emphasizes strong communication and up-to-date knowledge of tax laws.

Join Aprio’s tax team and help clients maximize opportunities in a hybrid work setting. Prior public accounting experience and a CPA are preferred; a Master’s in Taxation is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with preference for a Master’s in Taxation
• CPA certification preferred and public accounting experience
• 6+ years of federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience
• Experience with S-Corp, Partnership, and corporate returns
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to mentor staff
• Willing to work in a hybrid environment

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of tax professionals and delegate tasks
• Develop and implement tax strategies and stay up to date with tax laws
• Provide consulting on mergers, acquisitions, tax planning, and corporate restructuring
• Conduct tax research to identify planning opportunities
• Prepare and review client tax returns to ensure compliance
• Manage client relationships and communicate with authorities as needed

Position Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing and leading a team of tax professionals, delegating tasks and responsibilities, and overseeing the work of your team members.
• Developing and implementing tax strategies. This will involve staying up-to-date with changing tax laws and regulations and identifying opportunities for tax planning.
• Providing consulting services to clients on various tax-related issues such as mergers and acquisitions, tax planning, and corporate restructuring.
• Conduct tax research to stay up-to-date with changing tax laws and regulations and identify opportunities for tax planning.
• Responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns for clients, ensuring that they comply with relevant tax laws and regulations.
• Responsible for communicating with clients and stakeholders, including tax authorities and other regulatory bodies, to ensure that all tax-related matters are handled effectively and efficiently.
• Manage client relationships and ensure that clients are satisfied with the services provided by your team.
• Training and mentoring team members

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Master’s degree in Taxation preferred
• CPA is preferred
• Recent experience working in a public accounting firm
• 6+ experience years of federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience in accounting
• Experience in S-Corp, Partnership returns, Individual and Corporate.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology
• Experience managing a team
• Willing to work hybrid

$121,000 - $148,000 a year

The salary range for this opportunity is stated above. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range.
