Whitley Penn, one of the nation’s leading audit, tax, and advisory firms, is seeking a Tax Manager with a strong background in Partnerships & Private Equity taxation to join our team in Houston.

The Tax Manager will oversee engagements, supervise associates, and manage multiple client projects, ensuring timely and accurate tax returns and compliance. Active CPA license and extensive knowledge of tax laws are required to drive client success and firm growth.

Qualifikationen

• 5+ years of Public Accounting experience.
• Strong background in partnerships and private equity taxation at both the portfolio company and fund level.
• Active CPA license.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree preferred.

Aufgaben

• Assume responsibility for all phases of engagements, including supervision of associates, managing client satisfaction and scheduling, staffing, using firm policies and procedures.
• Review and/or prepare 1065, 1040, 1120, and 1120S tax returns, quarterly estimates, extensions and year-end projections.
• Review and/or prepare various types of complex tax returns; perform technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity.
• Identify and research technical issues to assure compliance with federal, state and local tax laws and regulations.
• Ensure that financial statements, tax returns and other deliverables are prepared in accordance with professional and firm standards.
• Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations; may represent the client before the appropriate taxing authorities.
• Serve clients in a consultative role with an emphasis on exceptional client service and identification of value-added services; proactively interact with key client management to gather information, resolve problems and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
• Own and monitor client relationship over the entire engagement process; communicate progress of engagements, problems, and resolutions to client.

The Tax Manager is responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete, and timely preparation of all client assignments. Advanced technical skills and well-developed management and supervisory skills are required. Managers are responsible for managing multiple tax projects and client engagements simultaneously, and scheduling, staffing, and coordinating engagement workflow. Managers develop, train associates and make associations to develop new business for the firm. Active CPA license is required for this position.

• Office Expectations/Hours: In-office position; general work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 hours/day between 8am to 5pm with overtime, as needed.

What You Will Do

What You Need to Get Here

• 5+ years of Public Accounting experience

• Extensive knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and other tax laws, regulations, and guidance with the ability to research and apply theory and experience to individual circumstances.

• Ability to assess, analyze and manage risk using appropriate frameworks, professional judgment, and skepticism.
• Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing; actively listens and clearly communicates ideas and information.
• Ability to lead and work respectfully and productively with diverse individuals in a variety of roles.
