Our client who runs a small CPA firm in Eureka, CA, is seeking a skilled and experienced Tax Partner to lead their tax practice. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in tax planning, compliance, and advisory services, with a strong history of serving diverse clients, including individuals and businesses. This role demands leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to client-focused solutions to drive practice growth, mentor teams, and deliver effective tax strategies.
Tax Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement effective tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities for clients across various industries, including real estate, manufacturing, and professional services.
Client Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor for clients, providing guidance on tax, business, and financial planning to support their financial goals.
Practice Leadership: Oversee the tax practice, managing a substantial client portfolio, driving revenue growth, and ensuring high-quality service delivery while fostering a client-centric culture.
Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, promoting a collaborative environment with high technical standards and efficient workflows.
Business Development: Grow the client base through referrals, networking, and delivering value-added services. Enhance engagement profitability by demonstrating service value.
IRS and State Representation: Manage tax audits and represent clients before IRS and state authorities, achieving favorable resolutions through effective negotiation.
Technical Expertise: Maintain proficiency in tax regulations and strategies, including partnerships, trusts, and other structures, while adapting to legislative changes.
Revenue and P&L Management: Oversee the financial performance of the tax practice, optimizing revenue streams and improving profitability.
Specialized Engagements: Structure complex transactions, such as business sales or estate plans, to achieve tax efficiency and client objectives.
Compliance and Consulting: Supervise preparation of tax returns for individuals, businesses, and entities while offering consulting services, such as financial planning or due diligence.
Experience: 10–15 years in public accounting, with significant experience in a leadership role managing client portfolios and professional teams.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of tax regulations, planning strategies, and compliance for various entity types. Familiarity with audit representation and tax-efficient structures.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive practice growth, and manage financial performance.
Client Management: Proven success in building and maintaining client relationships across diverse industries and income levels.
Business Acumen: Ability to enhance profitability through strategic pricing and value-driven services. Experience growing client engagements and implementing proactive tax planning.
Education and Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; advanced degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred. Licensed CPA required.
Professional Affiliations: Membership in professional organizations, such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), is a plus.
Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build client trust and foster team collaboration.
Experience with high-value transactions or complex tax planning for businesses and individuals.
History of successful audit outcomes and tax-saving strategies.
Ability to provide additional advisory services, such as financial consulting or business strategy.
Success in supporting businesses at various growth stages, from startups to established firms.
