Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a seasoned tax professional to join our established public accounting firm in Chesapeake, VA. You will manage a diverse portfolio of individual, corporate, and partnership returns, while guiding clients and coordinating with senior staff to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.

With a CPA or EA credential and 5+ years of tax experience, you will review returns, advise on tax planning, and foster strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of public accounting tax experience.
• Active CPA or EA credential required.
• Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
• Excellent client communication, organization, and problem solving skills.
• Experience reviewing returns and managing multiple client engagements preferred.
• Nonprofit tax experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns for a diverse client portfolio.
• Manage multiple tax engagements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.
• Build strong client relationships and provide thoughtful tax guidance.
• Oversee general ledger accounting activities, reconciliations, and resolution of accounting discrepancies.
• Collaborate with partners and accounting professionals to coordinate workflow and deliver exceptional service.
• Stay current with evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
