Job summary

A leading tax and advisory firm is seeking a candidate to provide comprehensive tax, accounting, and advisory services primarily to small-business clients. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, a CPA or JD, and significant experience in tax compliance. Responsibilities include managing client relationships, overseeing engagements, and ensuring compliance with tax laws. Competitive compensation ranges from $110,000 to $160,000, based on skills and experience, with a preference for candidates eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

  • Five (5)+ years of experience in federal and state tax compliance, accounting and advisory services.
  • Two (2)+ years of supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates.

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Be a trusted member of the team providing tax, accounting and advisory services to small‑business clients.
  • Oversee and provide services related to accounting, bookkeeping and prepared or compiled financials.
  • Review and analyze accounting records, provide analysis and consultation, and communicate with clients regarding accounting and business matters.
  • Deliver best‑in‑class customer service with an emphasis on responsiveness, timeliness, professionalism and accuracy.
  • Lead and plan client engagements, continuously evaluating processes and procedures to implement efficiencies and identify internal control issues.
  • Provide recommendations for business and process improvements based on knowledge of client operations, processes and objectives.
  • Manage and build client relationships, act as liaison to address and resolve client issues, and assist team leaders in researching and providing additional services to clients.
  • Effectively delegate and oversee work efforts by setting goals, providing resources, removing obstacles and scheduling deadlines to meet client expectations for delivery.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state and federal tax practices and laws.
  • Assist with managing client engagement staffing, billings/collections and ensure client profitability targets are met.
  • Utilize entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong internal and external client relationships.
  • Invest in professional development through firm‐wide learning and development programs.
  • Support the growth and development of team members through Baker Tilly’s Care and Teach philosophy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; master’s or advanced degree desirable.
  • CPA or JD required.
  • Five (5)+ years of experience in federal and state tax compliance, accounting and advisory services in a professional services firm.
  • Two (2)+ years of supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates.
  • Strong management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning.
  • Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship preferred.
Compensation

$110,000 to $160,000. Actual compensation is influenced by skills, experience, qualifications and geographic location.
