Job Summary

As a Tax Manager, you will oversee and review financial information for clients, including business and individual tax returns. You will have exposure to a diverse client base across various industries, manage client relationships and staff, and ensure high‑quality work is delivered.

Responsibilities
Tax Strategy and Engagement Oversight
  • Help develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies that align with clients’ financial objectives and minimize tax liabilities.
  • Manage a portfolio of tax engagements, supervise staff, and review their work for accuracy, compliance, and firm standards.
  • Monitor engagement progress, budgets, and timelines, adjusting as needed to meet client expectations.
Research and Analysis
  • Stay abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments; apply this knowledge to engagements and internal training.
  • Coordinate and complete tax research efforts to resolve complex tax issues and guide decision‑making.
Client Communication
  • Explain complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations to their understanding and addressing questions.
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations on tax matters, providing insights into financial situations and implications.
  • Maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor.
Compliance and Documentation
  • Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns for accuracy and compliance.
  • Track and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and compliance requirements to avoid penalties.
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Team Collaboration
  • Collaborate with other tax professionals to share insights and best practices.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide feedback to tax staff to foster professional growth.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment and participate in internal training.
Process Improvement and Innovation
  • Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures.
Strategic Business Development
  • Collaborate with partners and senior management on business development opportunities.
  • Participate in proposal development and presentations to prospective clients.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise subordinate team members.

Work Environment

Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions.

Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
Travel Required

Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client needs.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience.
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent license.
  • Experience in a professional service environment.
  • Additional industry or specialization certifications as required.
  • Completion of minimum CPE credit requirements.
  • Proficiency in software such as CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Jurisdictional JD degree for specialty positions.
