H. T. PROF Group is seeking a Tax Manager to join our established CPA firm and help lead complex tax work for SEC and closely held clients. The role emphasizes technical tax review, planning, and high-level client service within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • Five+ years in public accounting with increasing tax return complexity, scope, and research.
  • Two+ years representing clients before tax authorities.
  • One+ year supervising and directing work of tax preparers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical review and approval of tax returns and examinations.
  • Participate in client meetings and tax planning with auditing/accounting teams.
  • Manage client service for assigned clients from partners or managers.
  • Delegate and supervise government tax examinations; may appear before authorities.
  • Overtime during peak season, with heavy hours January–April.
  • Support practice development through referrals and industry activities.
  • Train and develop staff accountants with performance evaluations.

Job description

Well established, highly profitable regional CPA firm seeks a Tax Manager to add to their growing staff. The Tax Supervis is responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete, and timely preparation of all clients' tax returns. Advanced technical skills in a variety of tax and accounting areas, along with well-developed and applied management and Supervising Senior skills are required. The Tax Supervisor makes decisions on all but the most unusual tax situations.

Responsibilities
  • Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity.
  • Participates actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts to assist the Auditing and Accounting Department with larger clients.
  • Assumes client service responsibility for clients the tax Supervising Senior works directly with or clients where the responsibility is delegated from the partner or manager.
  • Delegates and manages governmental tax examinations; may represent the client before the appropriate taxing authorities.
  • Occasional overtime work required throughout the year. Heavy overtime work required from January 1 to April 15, may be in excess of 55 hours per week.
  • Participates in firm's practice development efforts through involvement with referral sources, community and industry activities.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the development and training of senior, semi-seniors and staff accountants.
  • Works to develop responsible, trained staff by issuing performance evaluations, developing training aids, and acting as an instructor in professional development programs.
Qualifications
  • At least five (5) years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research.
  • At least two (2) years' experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required, master's degree in taxation preferred.
