Job summary

Smart4 Energy in San Francisco is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee a diverse portfolio of individual and business clients, manage compliance, planning, and advisory services, and mentor the tax team in a collaborative environment.

As part of the role, you will work closely with Partners, lead client relationships, and contribute to business development while ensuring high-quality tax advice and timely deliverables in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

  • CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience.
  • Strong experience with individual and business taxation.
  • Experience with partnerships, S corporations, and closely held businesses.
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal and California tax regulations.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring staff.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations
  • Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients
  • Research and interpret federal and state tax regulations
  • Identify tax-saving and planning opportunities
  • Review work prepared by Senior and Staff Tax Accountants
  • Manage client relationships and serve as a trusted tax advisor
  • Assist Partners with complex client matters and tax planning strategies
  • Oversee engagement workflow, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the tax team
  • Participate in business development and client growth initiatives

A well-established and growing CPA firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its San Francisco team. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients, providing high-level tax advisory services, and taking on meaningful leadership responsibility within a collaborative public accounting environment.

The Opportunity

As a Tax Manager, you will manage a diverse portfolio of individual and business clients while overseeing tax compliance, planning, and advisory engagements. You will work closely with Partners and clients and play an important role in mentoring and developing the firm's tax team.

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For
