Job summary

Meadows Urquhart Acree & Cook, LLP is seeking a senior tax professional to lead client audit, tax, and advisory engagements in the Richmond, VA area.

You will plan and execute engagements, manage deadlines and budgets, supervise staff, and serve as the primary contact delivering trusted accounting guidance.

This role emphasizes collaboration, professional humility, and a strong client service mindset within a professional office environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of tax experience in relevant domains.
  • 2 years of reviewing tax returns.
  • CPA, EA or CPA eligible.
  • Industry experience in Real Estate, Construction, Financial Services, High Net Worth Individuals, or Entrepreneurial Services is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead client audit, tax, and advisory engagements with team oversight.
  • Plan and execute engagements, manage deadlines and budgets.
  • Supervise staff, train and coach team members, ensure compliance.
  • Communicate expectations, identify risk, and manage budgets.
  • Manage client relationships as primary contact and advisor.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.
  • Support senior management in new business pitches and account growth.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead client audit, tax, and/or advisory engagements. Act as a team leader providing responsibility and oversight for project outcomes; set up and engage with teams and provide hands on direction
  • Plan and execute audit, review, or tax engagements, including managing deadlines and budgets
  • Supervise staff while ensuring technical compliance and timely service of delivery. Act as an influential component of the team, making time to train and coach members, communicate feedback to senior and staff accountants
  • Provide clear communication in setting expectations, identifying risk and managing project budgets
  • Manage client relationships, acting as the primary contact, managing expectations, and providing advice on accounting and business issues. Become client's preferred advisor contact
  • Participate in special projects as necessary
  • Support senior mgmt. in pitching for new business and expanding existing client relationships

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

Operates in a professional office environment with moderate noise levels, e.g. computers, printer, light traffic. Use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, copiers).
