Job summary

Gen II Fund Services, LLC is seeking a Tax Manager to join our growing team. You will be actively involved in tax compliance for client engagements including private equity funds, fund of funds, SBIC funds and family office programs.

Responsibilities include reviewing Forms W-8BEN/W-8IMY, preparing federal and state returns, calculating estimated tax payments, coordinating with external auditors, and supervising accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review Forms W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, W-8EXP and W-8IMY for treaty claims
  • Review federal and state tax returns and workpapers
  • Calculate quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax reviewers
  • Supervise accounting staff and review tax workpapers
  • Handle ad-hoc tax compliance requests
  • Assist with client and investor tax matters
  • Maintain documentation and respond to tax authorities

What’s the role?

Gen II is seeking a Tax Manager to join our growing team of professionals. You will be actively involved in the tax compliance services for client engagements including, private equity funds, private equity fund of funds, SBIC funds and family office private equity programs.

What you’ll be doing

  • Obtain a detailed understanding of the client’s partnership agreement(s) and how to apply it to deliverables, including creating and reviewing tax carried interest computations
  • Review and validate Forms W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, W-8EXP and W-8IMY to properly administer treaty claims for reduced U.S. withholding tax
  • Review federal and state tax returns and associated workpapers
  • Calculate quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Research and respond to various client and tax authority requests
  • Meet ad-hoc tax compliance requests from clients and partners/ investors
  • Review responses to state and federal tax notices
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax reviewers
  • Progressive responsibilities to include supervision, training and evaluation of accounting staff and first level review of all tax workpapers and deliverables
  • Other assigned projects

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting (150 credit-hours minimum)
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Understanding of U.S. partnership taxation
  • CPA candidate
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic

Desired Experience:

  • CPA certification

  • Understanding of U.S. international taxation rules associated with ECI, Branch Profits Tax, FDAP, FATCA and FIRPTA
  • Understanding of U.S. corporate taxation
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Private equity work experience
  • Tax work experience with an emphasis in partnership and/ or international tax matters
  • Proficiency with Thomson Reuters GoSystem

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000, in addition to a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits package. Please note that the actual salary offered within that range will depend on the candidate’s experience level.
