We Do The Search in Hawaii seeks a Tax Manager to lead and enhance a broad tax practice within a well-established regional CPA firm. You will oversee the preparation and review of complex returns, mentor staff, and deliver strategic tax guidance across diverse client industries.

A strong compliance background and leadership skills are essential. Hybrid work is available, with some days from a home-based setup in Hawaii; the role offers growth potential, solid benefits, and bonus opportunities

Qualifications

  • At least five to seven years' experience in public accounting with progression in tax complexity and research.
  • Minimum one year of supervising and directing work of tax preparers.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required; Master's in taxation preferred.
  • CPA license current and required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical review and approval of tax returns and examinations of any complexity.
  • Take responsibility for larger tax returns and delegate to staff as needed.
  • Provide advanced technical tax advice to clients.
  • Perform client service tasks and ensure assignments meet budgeted time.
  • Delegate and manage tax research projects for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage governmental tax examinations; potentially represent clients before tax authorities.
  • Monitor staff qualifications and oversee training.
  • Supervise tax staff and provide on-the-job coaching.

TAX MANAGER
Well established, highly profitable regional CPA firm seeks a Tax Manager to add to their growing staff. The Manager is responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete, and timely preparation of all clients' tax returns. The Manager makes decisions on all but the most unusual tax situations. May work hybrid including a few days weekly from a home based in Hawaii.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity.
  • Assumes full responsibility for larger tax returns and delegates to the various tax preparers as deemed necessary.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge and proficiency in advanced technical skills necessary for advising clients.
  • Performs all task related to client service and sees that assignments are accomplished within budgeted time.
  • Delegates and manages tax research projects to achieve an accurate and efficient product.
  • Delegates and manages governmental tax examinations; may represent the client before the appropriate taxing authorities.
  • Maintains familiarity with qualifications of all tax staff members and reviews staff assignments for appropriateness.
  • Supervises tax staff and provides on-the-job training.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, coaching and training of Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-seniors and Staff accountants.
  • Must be familiar with the qualifications of all Tax staff members for the development and instruction of their training needs.
  • Participates in reviews and evaluations of the Tax Department.
Qualifications:
  • At least five to seven years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in tax complexity, scope, and research. Prefer experience with C + S corps, partnerships, and high net worth individual tax.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required, Master's degree in taxation preferred.
  • A current and valid certified public accountant's license is required.
