Tax Manager

Hybrid | Mid‑sized firm

Location: Naperville, IL

Pay: $100,000 – $150,000 per year (base) + profit sharing.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of larger and more complex engagements while supporting and mentoring staff.
• Handle a mix of for‑profit and non‑profit clients, including high‑net‑worth individuals and pass‑through entities.
• Review returns, guide staff through technical questions, stay close to planning and strategy, and manage client relationships end‑to‑end.
• Develop your own specialisation over time while remaining a well‑rounded Tax Manager.

Work‑Life Balance

Busy season runs at 54–60 hours with an expectation of engagement in the office, from home, or at client sites. Outside busy season, the focus is on 40‑hour weeks, training, mentoring, and professional development.

Career Progression

Clear path to partnership and meaningful leadership roles in mentoring, training, business development, or technical specialisation. No rigid up‑or‑out structure.

Qualifications

CPA (or nearly there) with solid experience managing tax engagements and reviewing complex returns.
