Job summary

Withum invites accounting students to join the November 2027 Tax Career Class, launching a public accounting career under seasoned professionals. You’ll gain hands-on experience in tax preparation, compliance, and planning while supporting clients across diverse industries.

As part of a tax team, you’ll prepare returns, assist with planning, and analyze data using Withum’s tools, staying current on tax laws and contributing to client meetings.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred: 150 credit hours and internship experience at a public accounting firm.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with tax software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals and entities.
• Assist with tax planning and research using authoritative sources.
• Analyze financial data and apply tax regulations to client scenarios.
• Collaborate with audit and advisory teams to service clients.

Withum is seeking accounting majors graduating in the upcoming academic year to join our Tax team as part of the November 2027 Class. This is a great opportunity to launch your career in public accounting by working alongside experienced tax professionals. You’ll gain hands‑on experience in individual and business tax preparation, compliance, and planning, while supporting clients across diverse industries.

What You’ll Do

As part of a team supervised by a Manager or Partner, you may:

• Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and nonprofits.
• Assist with tax planning and research projects using authoritative sources and Withum’s proprietary tools.
• Analyze financial data and apply tax regulations to client scenarios.
• Collaborate with audit and advisory teams to ensure integrated client service.
• Participate in client meetings and contribute to strategic discussions.
• Leverage tax technology platforms and data analytics tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Stay current on evolving tax laws and industry trends.
• Assume increasing responsibility on engagements as your proficiency grows.
• Miscellaneous tasks as assigned

The compensation for this position ranges from $62,000 to $90,000 based on location. Final offer amounts are based on multiple factors such as the specific role, hiring location, as well as the individual’s skills, experience, and qualifications. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance.
