Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
• Active CPA license or EA certification required.
• Approximately 10+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience.
• Significant experience serving high-net-worth individuals, families, or private clients.
• Deep technical knowledge of individual taxation.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex tax compliance, planning, and consulting engagements for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.
• Advise family offices, business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, and closely held businesses.
• Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120-S, 1041, 706, and 709 as applicable.
• Advise clients on income tax planning, estate and gift strategies, wealth transfer, charitable planning, and entity structuring.
• Mentor and develop managers, seniors, and staff.
• Collaborate with Partners on expanding existing client relationships and identifying new opportunities.

Salary: $190,000 - $250,000 per year

We are working with a nationally recognized accounting, tax, and advisory firm with a sophisticated and growing Private Client Services practice. The team advises high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, business owners, family offices, trusts, estates, investment entities, and closely held businesses on complex tax planning and compliance matters.

We are seeking an experienced Tax Director who can operate well beyond traditional compliance work. This person will serve as a trusted advisor to sophisticated clients, lead complex engagements, mentor tax professionals, and work closely with Partners on growing the Private Client practice.

We are seeking an experienced Tax Director - Private Client Services to lead sophisticated tax compliance, planning, and advisory engagements for high-net-worth individuals, families, family offices, and closely held businesses.

This role requires someone who can see the entire financial picture of a private client rather than simply review individual returns.

Clients may have financial interests spanning operating companies, partnerships, investment entities, real estate, trusts, estates, family investment vehicles, and multigenerational wealth structures.

The Tax Director will serve as a senior relationship owner, technical resource, team leader, and strategic advisor while working closely with Partners on practice growth and business development.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex tax compliance, planning, and consulting engagements for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families
• Advise family offices, business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, and closely held businesses
• Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120-S, 1041, 706, and 709 as applicable
• Advise clients on income tax planning, estate and gift strategies, wealth transfer, charitable planning, and entity structuring
• Manage clients with complex investment portfolios, operating businesses, trusts, estates, partnerships, and significant K-1 activity
• Develop proactive tax strategies and identify opportunities to reduce tax exposure
• Serve as the primary relationship contact for sophisticated clients and their outside advisors
• Coordinate with attorneys, wealth managers, investment advisors, family office professionals, and other client representatives
• Lead engagement planning, staffing, budgeting, workflow, and deadline management
• Review work prepared by managers and staff and provide technical guidance on complex tax issues
• Mentor and develop managers, seniors, and staff
• Collaborate with Partners on expanding existing client relationships and identifying new opportunities
• Participate in business development, networking, proposals, and prospective client presentations
• Stay current on federal, state, and local tax law developments affecting private clients

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university
• Active CPA license or EA certification required
• Approximately 10+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience preferred for Director-level consideration
• Significant experience serving high-net-worth individuals, families, family offices, or private clients
• Deep technical knowledge of individual taxation
• Strong partnership and pass-through entity tax experience
• Experience with trusts, estates, and gift taxation
• Experience reviewing complex Forms 1040 and 1065
• Experience navigating high-volume K-1 environments
• Understanding of closely held business taxation and multi-entity family structures
• Demonstrated experience independently managing sophisticated client relationships
• Experience leading complex tax engagements
• Proven ability to develop managers and staff
• Strong tax research, technical writing, and problem-solving skills
• Executive-level communication and presentation capabilities
• Ability to identify additional planning and advisory opportunities within client relationships
• Ability to work from the office at least three days per week
• Current authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
