Job summary

Steven Douglas is partnering with a well-established, locally owned public accounting firm in the Greater Austin area to recruit a senior tax leader. You will oversee a portfolio of client engagements and serve as the senior technical authority on compliance, consulting, and planning.

You will shape tax strategy for entities and owners, manage calendars and deadlines, own engagement financials, review complex returns, and mentor tax managers and associates while collaborating with firm

Qualifications

• 10+ years of tax experience in public accounting serving business entities and their owners.
• Proven success managing multi-state consulting and compliance engagements.
• Active CPA license.
• Advanced degree in taxation preferred.
• Excellent research, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong project management and technology skills.
• A deep commitment to client service and continued technical growth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a portfolio of client tax engagements from kickoff through completion as the senior technical authority on compliance, consulting, and planning.
• Shape tax strategy for business entities and their owners, including organizations with multi-state operations.
• Manage filing calendars and deadlines across all assigned engagements to ensure timely, accurate delivery.
• Own engagement financials, including budgeting, billing, realization, and collections.
• Review complex returns and technical research and provide final sign-off.
• Lead, coach, and develop tax managers and associates to build a strong, growing team.
• Partner with firm leadership on client relationships, practice growth, and business development.
