Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field.
  • CPA required; Master's in Taxation or advanced tax credentials preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, including ASC 740, SOX, SEC reporting, and public company environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state income taxation, tax accounting, and compliance.
  • Experience with international tax matters, including GILTI, FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credits, transfer pricing, and cross-border planning.
  • Demonstrated experience managing global tax provisions for multinational organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and review quarterly and annual global income tax provisions under ASC 740, including SEC reporting and disclosures for U.S. entities and international subsidiaries.
  • Oversee SOX compliance, documentation, testing, and remediation efforts related to tax processes.
  • Prepare and review quarterly effective tax rate calculations, uncertain tax positions, tax account reconciliations, and deferred tax analyses.
  • Drive continuous improvement of tax provision, compliance, and SOX processes through automation and controls.
  • Oversee the review and coordination of U.S. federal, state, and local income tax filings; partner with external advisors as needed.
  • Manage tax audits, examinations, notices, and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop and execute global tax planning strategies.

Position Summary

Reporting to senior finance leadership and managing a small team, this role is responsible for leading all aspects of the company's global tax function, including ASC 740 tax accounting, SOX compliance, U.S. federal and state tax compliance, international tax matters, transfer pricing, tax audits, tax planning, and strategic tax initiatives. The position will play a critical role in supporting the company's global manufacturing operations, growth strategy, and overall tax efficiency.

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical tax expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to partner across finance, operations, supply chain, and executive leadership in a complex multinational environment. Experience with R&D tax incentives, capitalization of research expenditures under IRC Section 174, and fixed asset planning, including Section 179 considerations, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and review quarterly and annual global income tax provisions under ASC 740, including all related SEC reporting and disclosures for U.S. entities and more than 20 international subsidiaries.
  • Ensure the tax function maintains a strong internal control environment by overseeing SOX compliance, documentation, testing, and remediation efforts related to tax processes.
  • Prepare and review quarterly effective tax rate (AETR) calculations under ASC 740, uncertain tax positions under FIN 48, tax account reconciliations, deferred tax analyses, and supporting schedules.
  • Drive continuous improvement of tax provision, compliance, and SOX processes through automation, enhanced controls, workflow optimization, and implementation of best practices.
  • Oversee the review and coordination of U.S. federal, state, and local income tax filings, partnering with external advisors as appropriate.
  • Manage tax audits, examinations, notices, and inquiries from federal, state, and international tax authorities.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop and execute global tax planning strategies that support operational goals, manufacturing activities, and corporate growth initiatives.
  • Lead and coordinate transfer pricing activities, intercompany transactions, and global supply chain tax considerations in collaboration with foreign controllers and finance teams.
  • Manage tax aspects of strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, legal entity restructurings, transfer pricing studies, equity compensation programs, and financing transactions.
  • Identify, document, and maximize available tax incentives, including federal and state R&D tax credits, manufacturing incentives, and other tax-saving opportunities.
  • Partner closely with engineering, operations, and finance teams to assess research and development activities, oversee compliance with IRC Section 174 capitalization requirements, and evaluate the impact of evolving tax legislation on R&D expenditures.
  • Support fixed asset and capital expenditure planning, including evaluating available depreciation methods, bonus depreciation opportunities, and Section 179 tax benefits where applicable.

  • Demonstrated experience managing global tax provisions for multinational organizations.
  • Experience with R&D tax credits, Section 174 capitalization requirements, and tax implications associated with manufacturing and technology-based operations.
  • Proven success managing tax audits, controversy matters, and relationships with external tax advisors.
  • Manufacturing, life sciences, industrial, or technology industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships and influence senior leadership across the organization.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, tax provision software, and tax compliance platforms.

Base Salary range is $190,000-$210,000
